Nevada City, CA – Four women from across the United States have started the fall semester with scholarships for college from Lifetime Adoption Foundation, a 501(c)3 charity that provides educational scholarships to women who have lovingly placed a child for adoption. woman smiling at letter

Each of the recipients placed a newborn baby for adoption and can receive ongoing contact and updates on the child as he or she grows up if they wish.

In one of the submitted essays, a recipient stated that “I knew early on that adoption was the right choice. It was originally the right choice for me, but later on, I realized it was more about the right choice for him. I was broken, lost, and nowhere near ready to be a mother, as much as I wanted to be, and it wouldn’t have been fair for a baby to wait until I was ready. Although it was by far, the hardest decision I’ve ever made, I don’t regret it. My full adoption story is beautiful and special. I am aware of how unique it is. I met him 11 years later for the first time since I gave birth to him. It is incredible to see the young person he has become.”

Lifetime Adoption Foundation receives many applications from birth mothers after completing an adoption through a wide variety of different adoption agencies. The organization attempts to gather donations from adoption professionals as well as parents and others who have been touched by adoption.

Founder and Board President Mardie Caldwell, C.O.A.P. says “There are always more qualified requests for scholarships than there are funds available. We would be thrilled to offer larger scholarships for college and award every birth mother help she needs in fulfilling her dreams and goals.”

Recipients have been attending or are accepted into the following colleges and universities: Florida Gulf Coast University (Ft. Meyers, FL), Minneapolis Community & Tech College (Minneapolis, MN), Clemson (Clemson, SC), and University of Texas, Arlington (Arlington TX).
